About Theodore R. Ericson, Executive Director
As an executive director, I have twenty-eight years of experience working with people
of various needs and abilities. I started in the field as a direct care counselor
and then as a residence manager for a 10 bed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) for
The Guild for Exceptional Children in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and Independent Living
Association, Staten Island. The experience that I have gained as a Director of Residential
Services for On Your Mark as well as possessing a Master of Science Degree in Community
Health can attest to my commitment of utilizing my skills to help those in need.
At On Your Mark, I was responsible for a 24-hour residential program for one hundred
people with developmental disabilities and some with a secondary diagnosis of mental
illness. I have overseen a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout my
career. This education, knowledge and administrative skills will prove valuable in
meeting the demands to provide Medicaid Service Coordination services for people
with developmental disabilities. I was instrumental in the development and provided
initial oversight for On Your Mark programs. These programs are as follows: Medicaid
Service Coordination, In-Home Residential Habilitation, Individual Support Services
(ISS) and the Home of Your Own Program, in which I assisted as well as being instrumental
in empowering five people in purchasing their own homes on Staten Island. During
my time as Director of Residential Services I was very instrumental in On Your Mark
growth as an agency. Under my direction On Your Mark had grown from 5 apartments
and 2 group homes to 14 apartments and 9 group homes. I was involved in every aspect
of development from site selection, purchasing, architectural meetings, bidding process,
development of budgets, development of Certificate of Need and opening certification
audits. I have attended the MSC CORE training as well as additional trainings offered
through OMRDD regarding ISP and Person Centered Planning.
